Job Description

Principal Solutions Architect designing and operating cloud-native data platforms for phData, a data and AI consultancy. Leading client delivery, technical teams, and managed-services innovation from India.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the design, provisioning, and operationalization of cloud-native data solutions on AWS and Azure using modern data stack technologies
  • Translate client business requirements into scalable, secure, and performant data platform architectures
  • Deliver client engagements on time, within scope, and with measurable business value across multiple customer accounts
  • Build and prioritize Epics, Stories, and Tasks to mature client data platforms
  • Identify opportunities to automate, optimize, and expand data platform capabilities and service offerings
  • Lead teams operating modern data platforms spanning streaming, data lakes, analytics, and related technologies
  • Provide technical leadership in client workshops, architecture reviews, and discovery sessions
  • Ensure deliverable quality through code reviews, documentation, governance, and performance tuning
  • Partner with practice and account leaders to expand engagements and standardize delivery patterns
  • Contribute to IP development, accelerators, delivery frameworks, and technical playbooks
  • Advise senior client stakeholders on data platform roadmaps and strategic decisions
  • Mentor and coach engineers, delegate effectively, and foster continuous improvement
  • Define and refine practice standards, reusable assets, and delivery frameworks
  • Lead technical presentations and architecture recommendations for executive audiences

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in data platform engineering, architecture, or managed services, with significant hands-on enterprise cloud experience
  • Advanced expertise in Snowflake, AWS, Azure, and/or Databricks
  • Extensive experience architecting and operating cloud-native data warehouses such as Snowflake and/or Redshift across large user bases
  • Production experience with S3, ADLS, Cassandra, or other NoSQL storage systems
  • Production experience with Spark, Kafka, event/streaming pipelines, Matillion, Fivetran, HVR, AWS Data Migration Services, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent
  • Production experience with Airflow, AWS Managed Airflow, or Luigi
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including writing, debugging, and optimizing complex queries
  • Extensive experience with infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Experience automating repetitive administrative tasks using Python or a similar language
  • Proficiency with CI/CD frameworks and tools such as Bitbucket, GitHub, Flyway, and Liquibase
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and performance tuning skills across complex, multi-stack environments
  • Demonstrated experience delivering projects for external clients in a professional services or consulting environment
  • Ability to break down complex problems into structured, actionable steps and drive resolution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including detailed technical presentations for executive audiences
  • Proven experience as a technical team lead and mentor
  • Demonstrated ability to work across distributed, cross-functional global teams
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision
  • Professional track record of creating, challenging, and improving processes and procedures
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience (listed under 'Education – If desired')
  • Snowflake SnowPro Core Certification or Snowflake Advanced Certification preferred
  • Experience with data visualization tools and data science or machine learning platform operations preferred
  • Experience across multiple industry verticals in managed services or platform operations preferred
  • Prior experience working in global or remote teams preferred
