Job Description

Product Designer creating intuitive knowledge-graph learning experiences for an EdTech platform. Designing data visualizations, scalable systems, and prototypes across learner, authoring, administrator, and marketing products.

Responsibilities:

  • Turn complex knowledge graphs and data structures into understandable interfaces for non-technical users
  • Define information hierarchy, interaction patterns, responsive behavior, visual systems, and edge cases
  • Design data visualizations for relationships, progression, mastery, trends, distributions, and comparisons
  • Create consistent visualization systems across views
  • Design for datasets ranging from a handful of items to hundreds or thousands of relationships
  • Account for API behavior, including missing data, long content, empty states, loading states, errors, overflow, and variable datasets
  • Build scalable design systems with reusable components, tokens, states, variants, responsive rules, documentation, and accessibility considerations
  • Create interactive prototypes using HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Framer, or similar tools
  • Provide design annotations and engineering handoffs
  • Collaborate with the Founder on product direction and with frontend engineering within a defined API boundary
  • Test designs with real users and iterate based on evidence

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in Figma
  • Experience designing products that have shipped
  • Understanding of effective data visualization and when visualizations can mislead
  • Experience with complex visualizations, including network/graph structures, multivariate comparisons, temporal trends, or distributional views
  • Ability to design for dynamic content and real-world datasets
  • Ability to anticipate edge cases and interaction states
  • Understanding of responsive design and constrained hardware and performance environments
  • Practical knowledge of WCAG AA accessibility standards
  • Comfort working with APIs, technical constraints, and frontend engineers
  • Ability to prototype with HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Framer, or similar technologies
  • Strong attention to typography, hierarchy, density, motion, color, and interaction
  • Ability to validate work with real users and explain decisions through user and product outcomes
  • Portfolio with 2–3 strong case studies demonstrating problem constraints, reasoning, process, outcome, and impact where available
  • At least one portfolio project demonstrating meaningful complex data visualization experience
  • At least one portfolio project showing a shipped product, working application, production design system, or shipped feature
  • Thoughtful use of AI tools to improve speed, quality, exploration, research, prototyping, or production workflow

Benefits:

  • Paid design exercise for shortlisted candidates
