Job Description
Quality Assurance Data Analyst validating complex SQL-driven datasets for Paradigm’s legal-services client Epiq. Testing imports, transformations, extracts, and database processes for accuracy.
Responsibilities:
- Validate the accuracy and completeness of data imports, updates, transformations, and extracts involving datasets from hundreds to millions of records
- Review and understand complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and other database processes
- Write and execute SQL test queries to verify data integrity, business logic, and expected results
- Analyze data using SQL Server, Excel, and related tools to confirm business and project requirements
- Develop and execute test cases covering normal conditions, exceptions, data anomalies, and other scenarios
- Review requirements and specifications to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and data-quality issues
- Collaborate with data engineers, business analysts, project managers, and QA team members to identify, document, troubleshoot, and resolve defects
- Verify corrections and problem resolutions
- Assist business partners in translating functional requirements into testing scenarios and validation criteria
- Perform peer reviews to identify errors and ensure adherence to Data Services standards
- Maintain documentation and work artifacts demonstrating completed validation and testing
- Provide status updates to leadership, Workforce, project managers, and stakeholders
Requirements:
- Four-year college degree or equivalent relevant professional experience
- 2+ years of strong database testing or data-validation experience, including writing and executing complex SQL queries
- 1+ years of hands-on experience with T-SQL, ANSI-89, and/or ANSI-92 SQL
- Strong working knowledge of relational databases and ability to understand moderately to highly complex SQL logic
- Experience reviewing and understanding stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database logic
- Experience in a Data Analyst, Business Analyst, QA/Data Testing, Process Specialist, or similar analytical role
- Strong analytical skills and deductive reasoning, with exceptional attention to detail
- Working knowledge of data modeling and data organization concepts
- Familiarity with extract, transform, and load (ETL) concepts, tools, and processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Comfort with NULL handling, subqueries, primary keys, foreign keys, constraints, defaults, transactions, error handling, BCP, BULK INSERT, indexing, stored procedures, user-defined functions, triggers, views, temporary tables, CTEs, and querying, creating, validating, and updating data
- Sufficient hands-on SQL experience to understand database logic, analyze data, and write queries used to validate complex data processes
