Job Description
Senior Manager of Accounting overseeing the accounting function and leading the monthly close process at Cylinder, a healthtech company delivering personalized care.
Responsibilities:
- Own and execute the monthly close process, including preparation, review, and posting of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare and reconcile all material balance sheet accounts, including cash, credit cards, intercompany, equity, prepaid expenses, and accruals
- Capitalize, amortize, and reconcile commissions and other prepaid or deferred costs
- Record and reconcile revenue, deferred revenue, and unbilled revenue in accordance with ASC 606
- Apply cash receipts, reconcile accounts receivable, and maintain the allowance for doubtful accounts
- Oversee and directly review all cash activity, including accounts payable, payroll, cash receipts, and bank transfers
- Perform detailed review of payroll runs and prepare or review payroll-related journal entries and accruals
- Record and reconcile inventory changes, lease amortization, and stock-based compensation
- Execute and reconcile intercompany transactions
- Prepare monthly financial statements and provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to support leadership decision-making
- Serve as the primary, hands-on point of contact for external audits
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
Requirements:
- CPA or CMA
- 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant hands on responsibility at a high-growth, startup, or healthtech environment
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including subscription-based revenue recognition (ASC 606)
- Experience owning the full monthly close process and producing accurate, audit-ready financial statements and supporting schedules
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and models
- Experience serving as a primary point of contact for external auditors
- Experience using Campfire, Ramp, Anrok, and/or Rippling
