Job Description
Senior Director managing global revenue recognition and accounting at Icertis, an AI-powered contract intelligence leader. Ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and driving automation in a public SaaS business.
Responsibilities:
- Lead global revenue accounting operations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities related to revenue and deferred revenue.
- Ensure revenue is recorded accurately, completely, and timely in accordance with ASC 606 and company policies.
- Own the design, documentation, and operation of revenue-related internal controls, including control optimization and remediation.
- Partner with Internal Audit and External Auditors to support audits, reviews, and complex accounting inquiries.
- Establish operating metrics and dashboards to monitor revenue quality, close performance, and operational efficiency.
- Serve as the company’s primary subject-matter expert on ASC 606 and complex SaaS revenue arrangements.
- Review and approve non-standard contracts, pricing structures, concessions, amendments, and complex deal constructs.
- Author and maintain revenue recognition policies, accounting position papers, and technical memos.
- Assess accounting implications of new products, pricing models, go-to-market motions, and strategic initiatives.
- Translate technical accounting conclusions into clear, actionable guidance for cross-functional stakeholders.
- Oversee Order Management processes to ensure contracts are structured and processed to support accurate revenue recognition.
- Partner closely with Sales, Deal Desk, and Legal to balance deal velocity with accounting and control requirements.
- Drive simplification and standardization of contract structures and order workflows.
- Ensure tight alignment between contractual terms, system configuration, and downstream accounting treatment.
- Own and drive automation and transformation initiatives across the full Order-to-Cash lifecycle, including quoting, contracting, billing, revenue recognition, and reporting.
- Act as a key finance stakeholder for revenue-related systems and integrations (e.g., CPQ, contract lifecycle management, ERP, revenue sub-ledgers).
- Lead process redesign efforts to reduce manual effort, improve scalability, and strengthen controls.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across upstream and downstream systems impacting revenue and cash flow.
- Champion the use of AI and advanced analytics to improve revenue operations, contract review, anomaly detection, forecasting inputs, and close efficiency.
- Partner with Business Systems to identify and deploy AI-enabled solutions that enhance accuracy, speed, and control.
- Establish governance and control frameworks around AI-assisted processes to ensure reliability, auditability, and compliance.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and responsible adoption of emerging technologies.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing global revenue accounting and order management team.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and development paths to scale the organization with the business.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on revenue matters.
- Communicate complex accounting and operational topics clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
- 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including deep SaaS revenue recognition experience.
- Expert-level knowledge of ASC 606, including complex, multi-element and non-standard arrangements.
- Proven leadership experience overseeing revenue accounting, order management, or O2C functions, with a bias toward
- Experience operating in a high-growth, public or pre-IPO SaaS environment.
- Strong understanding of internal controls, audit requirements, and scalable finance operations.
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Sales, Legal, Product, and Systems teams.
- Self-starter who identifies opportunities and acts on them.
