Job Description
Senior Application Engineer for 3M’s Industrial Adhesives & Tapes Division. Collaborating on bonding solutions for industrial applications, focusing on automotive interiors.
Responsibilities:
- Support the adoption of 3M bonding solutions across industrial and transportation markets
- Engage with customers, OEMs, Tier suppliers, converters, and partners to understand requirements and recommend suitable bonding solutions
- Support application development, validation, and integration of adhesive and tape technologies into customer designs and production processes
- Provide hands‑on technical guidance, troubleshooting, and performance analysis
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Development, and global engineering teams to enable design-in opportunities and support new product introductions
- Conduct testing and analyse results to create clear, actionable recommendations
- Prepare technical reports, guidelines, and presentations for internal and customer use
- Provide customer insights to guide product development and innovation
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science, physics, or chemistry
- Previous experience in application, process, or manufacturing engineering within industrial or transportation markets (automotive OEM/Tier preferred)
- Experience supporting product design, validation, and customer application development
- Understanding of adhesives/tapes, bonding methods, and assembly processes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and validation requirements
- Experience with laboratory testing and material performance evaluation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Valid UK driver’s licence
