Job Description
Senior Counsel leading U.S. government and defense contracting for Impulse Space, an in-space transportation company. Advising executives, negotiating agreements, and managing compliance across government programs.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as Impulse Space’s in-house expert on U.S. government and defense contracting
- Provide strategic legal counsel across the full lifecycle of government programs
- Advise executives and cross-functional teams on government contracts and subcontracts
- Interpret and apply FAR, DFARS, and related regulations
- Negotiate complex agreements
- Manage compliance obligations
- Support contract performance, modifications, and disputes
- Develop scalable processes and training
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders
- Manage outside counsel for specialized matters
Requirements:
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active U.S. bar membership
- At least 10 years of government contracts law experience
- 5+ years of experience in aerospace or defense
- Deep knowledge of government contracting principles
- Strong business judgment
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership
- Experience supporting defense or national security programs in the space sector is highly valued
- Ability to operate in compliance with U.S. export regulations
