Job Description

Senior Counsel providing legal guidance across retirement and trust platforms at Retired.com. Supporting compliance and innovation while ensuring legal soundness in product development.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, draft, and maintain customer-facing disclosures, agreements, and platform terms
  • Ensure documentation clearly reflects a self-directed, non-discretionary, and non-advisory service model
  • Advise on fiduciary roles, custodial responsibilities, and allocation of risk across platforms
  • Support legal matters related to self-directed IRAs, including custodial structures and prohibited transaction considerations
  • Partner with product, engineering, operations, compliance, and marketing teams on product launches and enhancements
  • Review marketing materials and customer communications to ensure legal accuracy and risk alignment
  • Provide practical, business-oriented legal guidance that supports innovation and scalability
  • Help develop, document, and maintain internal legal policies and procedures supporting compliant platform operations
  • Advise on legal considerations related to regulated trust company and custodial environments
  • Identify emerging legal risks and partner with stakeholders to mitigate exposure proactively
  • Serve as a trusted legal advisor to cross-functional leaders and senior stakeholders
  • Own and drive legal workstreams for complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Contribute to building a scalable, well-controlled legal function as Retired.com grows

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 5–8+ years of legal experience in fintech, financial services, trusts, or retirement platforms
  • Experience drafting and reviewing customer disclosures, agreements, and platform terms
  • Working knowledge of self-directed IRAs, custodial frameworks, fiduciary obligations, and prohibited transaction rules
  • Strong drafting skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams
