Job Description
Sr Manager for Policy and Public Affairs advocating for diabetes technologies in Germany, driving strategic engagement with stakeholders and informing policy frameworks.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement public affairs strategies aligned with business objectives and healthcare system dynamics
- Monitor and analyze health policy developments, regulatory changes, and political trends affecting diabetes care and medical devices
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including health authorities, policy makers, patient advocacy groups, and professional associations
- Represent the company in policy forums, conferences, and industry associations
- Advocate for policies that support innovation, access, and reimbursement of diabetes technologies
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Market Access, Medical Affairs, Commercial) to align policy efforts with broader business goals
- Prepare policy briefs, position papers, and stakeholder communication materials
- Support engagement with national bodies such as IQWiG, G-BA, and GKV, particularly in relation to policy positioning and strategic dialogue
- Identify opportunities for partnerships and coalitions to advance shared policy goals
- Ensure compliance with lobbying and transparency regulations
- Contribute to internal education on policy trends and implications for business strategy
- Promote cross-functional collaboration to support product acceptance and positioning
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of health policy, regulatory frameworks, and political processes in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and public affairs strategy
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills
- Strategic thinking and ability to navigate complex policy environments
- Familiarity with reimbursement systems and healthcare financing
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
- Fluent in German and English (spoken and written)
- Proficiency in MS Office; basic knowledge of data analysis tools (SQL, R, etc.) is a plus
- University degree in political science, public health, health economics, law, or a related field or equivalent
- Several years of experience in public affairs, policy, or government relations, preferably in the healthcare or medical device sector
- Experience working with national authorities and policy-making bodies
- Established network of contacts in the healthcare policy space
