Job Description

Sr Manager for Policy and Public Affairs advocating for diabetes technologies in Germany, driving strategic engagement with stakeholders and informing policy frameworks.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement public affairs strategies aligned with business objectives and healthcare system dynamics
  • Monitor and analyze health policy developments, regulatory changes, and political trends affecting diabetes care and medical devices
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including health authorities, policy makers, patient advocacy groups, and professional associations
  • Represent the company in policy forums, conferences, and industry associations
  • Advocate for policies that support innovation, access, and reimbursement of diabetes technologies
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Market Access, Medical Affairs, Commercial) to align policy efforts with broader business goals
  • Prepare policy briefs, position papers, and stakeholder communication materials
  • Support engagement with national bodies such as IQWiG, G-BA, and GKV, particularly in relation to policy positioning and strategic dialogue
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships and coalitions to advance shared policy goals
  • Ensure compliance with lobbying and transparency regulations
  • Contribute to internal education on policy trends and implications for business strategy
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to support product acceptance and positioning

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of health policy, regulatory frameworks, and political processes in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and public affairs strategy
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills
  • Strategic thinking and ability to navigate complex policy environments
  • Familiarity with reimbursement systems and healthcare financing
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
  • Fluent in German and English (spoken and written)
  • Proficiency in MS Office; basic knowledge of data analysis tools (SQL, R, etc.) is a plus
  • University degree in political science, public health, health economics, law, or a related field or equivalent
  • Several years of experience in public affairs, policy, or government relations, preferably in the healthcare or medical device sector
  • Experience working with national authorities and policy-making bodies
  • Established network of contacts in the healthcare policy space
