Job Description
Field-based Medical Science Liaison advancing AstraZeneca’s CAR-T and multiple myeloma pipeline. Building provider relationships and supporting cell therapy adoption across Chicago and Kansas City.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain scientific relationships with hematology/cell therapy thought leaders, investigators, and appropriate HCPs across academic and community centers
- Engage in scientific exchanges with multidisciplinary teams, including hematologists/oncologists, cell therapy physicians, APPs, pharmacists, apheresis and cell processing staff, and nursing
- Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific and product information according to company policy
- Serve as a trusted scientific advisor, peer, and expert to internal stakeholders and external HCPs
- Educate cell therapy provider teams on disease state, CAR-T mechanism of action, multiple myeloma therapies, safety and clinical management, manufacturing processes, and infusion-center and patient-management data
- Support implementation of cell therapy infusions by helping healthcare providers navigate cell therapy complexity and diverse stakeholder groups
- Gather and synthesize site-level insights and communicate them to medical leadership and internal partners
- Identify data and educational gaps to inform Medical Affairs strategy and address unmet patient needs
- Partner with HCPs on disease-state initiatives, collaborative research, and investigator-sponsored research
- Collaborate across Medical Affairs, Commercial, and R&D
- Represent Medical Affairs at congresses and scientific meetings through scientific exchange, medical booth coverage, and sharing scientific and competitive insights
Requirements:
- Advanced scientific degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline
- 5+ years of experience in hematology/oncology, including at least 2 years in a field medical or equivalent scientific engagement role
- Experience preferably in cell therapy and/or multiple myeloma
- Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations, and small group dialogues
- Ability to distill complexity into key messages and scientific narratives
- Experience supporting development and/or launch of a new pharmaceutical product in the U.S.
- Experience operating in a matrixed environment with Medical Affairs, Commercial, and R&D partners
- Ability to travel 40–60% domestically by car, train, and plane
- Preferred: doctorate degree with oncology/hematology specialization
- Direct knowledge, experience, and expertise in hematology/oncology cell therapy
- Experience working with headquarters and implementing HQ plans in the field
- Working knowledge of FDA and GMP requirements, industry rules, and regulations governing cell therapy quality manufacturing and field-based medical roles
- Must live within the Chicago and Kansas City territory
