Job Description
Senior Patent & IP Counsel at Lyten responsible for leading the IP function and executing patent strategy across innovative technologies. Collaborating with product and engineering teams on patents and IP management.
Responsibilities:
- Build and lead the intellectual property function
- Shape and execute Lyten’s patent strategy across breakthrough technologies
- Draft and prosecute patent applications
- Manage the global IP portfolio
- Serve as an embedded partner to product and engineering teams
- Drive invention disclosure processes
- Oversee freedom-to-operate and infringement analyses
- Lead IP diligence for acquisitions and asset purchases
- Manage outside counsel
- Negotiate complex IP provisions in commercial agreements
- Advise on trademark, trade secret, and IP aspects of agreements.
Requirements:
- J.D. and active U.S. law license
- USPTO registration
- At least 7 years of IP experience
- Strong record of patent drafting and prosecution in technology, materials, or hardware sectors
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline
- Advanced degrees and experience in battery, energy storage, or advanced materials considered a plus
- U.S. citizenship is required due to export control regulations.
