Job Description

Senior engineer developing flight-critical embedded software for RTX aerospace and defense systems. Leading avionics software design, verification, certification, and multidisciplinary project execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of flight-critical embedded software for military and commercial aviation solutions and avionics products
  • Use embedded Linux, C/C++, networking protocols, device drivers, hardware interface tools, simulations, and integrated development environments for new products
  • Specify requirements, implement software, develop test procedures, perform verification, and complete certification artifacts
  • Own technical, schedule, and cost aspects of team tasks and complete work according to the project plan
  • Assist with task planning and execution
  • Contribute to project plans by estimating task size, identifying dependencies, and discovering risks and opportunities
  • Participate in and potentially lead an engineering team by organizing tasks, coordinating efforts, communicating status, raising issues, brainstorming ideas, helping others, and promoting collaboration
  • Apply software engineering processes throughout the product life cycle from requirements through verification
  • Support product certification required by federal agencies

Requirements:

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field
  • C/C++ programming experience, preferably in real-time embedded software
  • 2+ years of experience leading a software team through a development process
  • 8+ years identifying complex problems, evaluating options, and developing software solutions for real-time operating systems
  • 8+ years collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in planning, design, and solution development
  • Preferred: 2+ years of DO-178B experience, with DAL A or B preferred
  • Preferred: 2+ years of experience with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or LynxOS
  • Preferred: 8+ years of experience with software engineering processes and procedures, including software requirements, design and implementation, functional and integration testing, test cases and procedures, and software delivery support
  • Must be a U.S. Person, including a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or other protected individual under the stated requirements
  • Security clearance is not required
