Job Description
Netflix Software Engineer building web-scale personalization datasets and distributed data systems. Partnering with algorithm teams to improve machine-learning-driven member experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Build large, web-scale datasets that enable and improve member experience
- Contribute to and extend the team’s suite of data products and frameworks
- Drive innovation in big data processing
- Partner with algorithm teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation in Netflix personalization
- Build production data systems on web-scale datasets
- Design schemas and model data for elegant and intuitive datasets
- Resolve competing priorities using organizational context
- Partner strategically with diverse stakeholders to drive innovation
- Drive change and influence others through clear and effective communication
- Operate as both a leader and learner with humility and maturity
Requirements:
- Expertise in building production data systems using Spark, Flink, or similar technologies on web-scale datasets
- Proficiency in at least one major programming language, such as Java or Scala
- Ability to independently learn new technology skills
- Hands-on experience with schema design and data modeling
- Passion for elegant and intuitive dataset design
- Passion for engineering excellence and tolerance for ambiguity in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to work independently and allocate time judiciously
- Ability to use organizational context to resolve competing priorities
- Ability to strategically partner with diverse stakeholders
- Ability to drive change and influence others through clear and effective communication
- Ability to operate as both a leader and learner with humility and maturity
