Job Description
Utility Solutions Architect at FlexEnergi leading technical evaluation and response for utility RFPs. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver simulation-backed proposals.
Responsibilities:
- **Key Responsibilities**
- **🔹 Technical Leadership**
- Analyze RFPs and identify technical, compliance, and performance requirements
- Develop detailed technical response narratives
- Own architecture diagrams, system workflows, telemetry, and M&V sections
- Ensure alignment with market rules and baseline methodologies
- **🔹 Capacity & Performance Modeling**
- Run simulations to estimate:
- Available MW capacity 8,760 hours per year
- Dispatch performance
- Revenue potential (best case / worst case)
- Along with partner manager, model enrollment scenarios (residential, various categories of C&I)
- Support firm vs non-firm dispatch modeling
- **🔹 Market & Compliance Analysis**
- Interpret ISO/RTO rules around M&V and ISO DA/RT pricing
- Model X-in-Y baselines, day-of adjustments, and M&V impacts
- Evaluate performance risk under different weather and load scenarios
- **🔹 Solution Architecture**
- Understand utility-specific systems and interactions with each
- Work with engineering to validate feasibility
- **🔹 Commercial Support**
- Quantify:
- Capacity guarantees
- Performance risk
- Expected revenue
- Support pricing strategy with simulation-backed assumptions
- Participate in customer technical workshops and presentations
Requirements:
- **** Required Qualifications**
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical/quantitative field
- 5–10+ years in energy markets, DER aggregation, demand response, or VPPs
- Strong understanding of:
- Utility RFP processes
- ISO/RTO market structures
- Demand response program design
- M&V methodologies
- Technical understanding of overall electric operations systems, including electric power systems, distribution automation, and distributed control systems and communications
- Experience running simulations (Python, MATLAB, R, or energy modeling tools)
- Ability to read tariffs and market manuals and translate them into technical requirements
- Strong technical writing skills in English (ability to produce 40+ page RFP responses with the help of AI tools)
