Job Description
Senior-level taxonomy and knowledge architecture leader transforming enterprise information into strategic knowledge asset at Echo Services. Collaborating with business and engineering teams to elevate content into a high-value knowledge asset.
Responsibilities:
- Define and evolve enterprise taxonomy, metadata, and semantic modeling strategies aligned to business and knowledge management objectives
- Lead impact analyses, audits, and continuous improvement of taxonomies, metadata schemas, tagging frameworks, and controlled vocabularies
- Position taxonomy and knowledge architecture as the semantic backbone for Copilot, Fabric, semantic search, and AI driven experiences
- Follow governance models for managed metadata, content types, and metadata workflows across distributed teams
- Partner with business stakeholders, data owners, and content leaders to ensure shared language, conceptual clarity, and consistent knowledge representation
- Serve as the subject matter authority on taxonomy, metadata, and ontology best practices across the organization
- Define success measures and validate that implementations improve findability, coherence, and AI response quality
- Architect, configure, and maintain Taxonomy API
- SharePoint Term Store global term groups and term sets, content types and managed metadata implementations
- Design and manage API integrations connecting taxonomy and term store data with Copilot agents, search, and knowledge management systems
- Implement taxonomy endpoints, metadata tagging automation, and ontology synchronization between systems (e.g., Taxonomy Service → Power Platform)
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure scalable, high-performance taxonomy API and metadata services
- Identify and implement success measures to validate projected outcomes
- Translate complex taxonomy, ontology, and metadata concepts for engineers, program managers, and executives
- Lead knowledge sharing sessions, design reviews, and strategic presentations
- Mentor taxonomy specialists, analysts, and content professionals, fostering technical excellence and shared practices
- Partner with clients to understand enterprise information challenges and design sustainable knowledge architecture solutions
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in taxonomy design, metadata management, knowledge architecture, or related enterprise information roles, with demonstrated impact at scale
- Deep expertise in taxonomy practice, including controlled vocabularies, semantic modeling, and enterprise metadata governance
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, including SharePoint Online, Syntex / document processing, and managed metadata frameworks
- Experience with semantic platforms such as PoolParty or equivalent ontology and vocabulary management tools
- Strong technical domain knowledge, including: Metadata strategy, ontology management, information retrieval, and semantic search API-based integration of taxonomy and metadata services
- AI-driven content enrichment, semantic search, and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) concepts
- Digital workplace platforms, CRM systems, and enterprise knowledge tools
- Proven ability to collaborate closely with engineering teams while retaining ownership of conceptual, semantic, and information design decisions
- Demonstrated success delivering taxonomy and metadata initiatives end to end, from strategy and stakeholder alignment through implementation, adoption, and governance
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate between business needs and technical execution
- Experience using project management and delivery tools, such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or Asana, and working alongside CRM platforms such as Dynamics 365 or Salesforce
- Master’s degree in Information Science, Information Management, Library Science, Knowledge Management, or a related field.
