Job Description

Software Engineering Director leading teams at Cigna Group for building secure technology solutions. Collaborating with product and architecture to deliver exceptional user experiences and ensuring engineering best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support multiple engineering teams, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions.
  • Translate product and business strategy into clear engineering plans, delivery milestones, and technical roadmaps.
  • Establish and reinforce engineering best practices, standards, and ways of working across teams.
  • Partner with Product Management and Architecture to design secure, resilient systems that scale with the business.
  • Mentor and develop engineering managers and senior engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and performance development to build strong, balanced teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Product, Operations, Client Success, and Growth to align priorities and deliver outcomes.
  • Champion agile delivery, automation, and modern tooling to improve quality, speed, and reliability.
  • Ensure platforms meet expectations for performance, security, compliance, and operational excellence.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership of managers and senior engineers.
  • Experience leading teams across the full software lifecycle in complex, cross-functional environments.
  • Strong understanding of modern application development, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on problem solving.
  • Clear, confident communicator able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical partners.
  • Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or other regulated industries (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with technology stacks such as Go, React, React Native, .NET, and integrated platforms (nice to have).
