Job Description
Solutions Architect designing secure, scalable cloud data platforms for phData, a data and AI consultancy. Advising enterprise clients and leading delivery across distributed global teams.
Responsibilities:
- Own and drive end-to-end architecture, design, and delivery of modern cloud data and analytics solutions for enterprise customers.
- Translate business requirements into technical and data platform solutions aligned with phData methodologies, standards, and best practices.
- Ensure engagements are delivered on time, within scope, and with measurable business value.
- Architect secure, scalable, and high-performing data pipelines and integration patterns using modern cloud data platforms and tooling.
- Guide implementation teams through design decisions, trade-offs, and best practices across the solution lifecycle.
- Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, ML, cloud platform, sales, and PMO teams.
- Provide technical and strategic leadership during workshops, discovery sessions, design reviews, and project delivery.
- Ensure deliverable quality through architecture reviews, code reviews, documentation, testing, and governance.
- Support pre-sales activities including scoping, solutioning, and presenting technical approaches.
- Contribute to IP development, accelerators, reference architectures, templates, playbooks, training, and mentoring.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, shaping roadmaps and strategic decisions.
- Mentor and coach team members and help refine practice standards, reusable assets, and delivery frameworks.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in solutions architecture and/or data engineering
- Hands-on expertise with Snowflake, AWS, Azure, Databricks, and GCP
- Strong programming skills in Java, Python, and/or Scala
- Advanced SQL skills, including writing, debugging, and optimizing complex queries
- Experience with cloud and distributed data storage such as S3, ADLS, HDFS, GCS, Kudu, Elasticsearch/Solr, Cassandra, or other NoSQL systems
- Experience with data integration technologies such as Spark, Kafka, Streamsets, Matillion, Fivetran, NiFi, AWS Data Migration Services, Azure Data Factory, IICS, Google DataProc, or similar tools
- Experience working with multiple data sources including queues, relational databases, files, search, and APIs
- Experience across the complete software development lifecycle, including design, documentation, implementation, testing, and deployment
- Experience with automated data transformation and curation using dbt, Spark, Spark Streaming, and automated data pipelines
- Experience with workflow management and orchestration tools such as Airflow, AWS Managed Airflow, Luigi, or NiFi
- Experience developing detailed solution documentation, including POCs, roadmaps, sequence diagrams, class hierarchies, and logical system views
- Ability to develop end-to-end technical solutions into production with performance, security, scalability, and robust data integration
- Experience delivering projects for external or internal clients in a professional services or consulting environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to create and deliver detailed presentations for technical and business audiences
- Ability to work effectively with distributed and cross-functional teams
- Proven ownership, priority management, and delivery of high-quality work with minimal supervision
- Experience leading teams and/or mentoring engineers
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience is listed under “Education - If desired” and is not required
