Job Description

Construction Superintendent leading subcontractors and field teams for Eleven Western Builders, a retail general contractor. Delivering California construction projects on schedule, within budget, and to code.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of subcontractors and Eleven Western Builders personnel from project start to finish
  • Complete onboarding, basic safety training, equipment training certification, CPR, and OSHA training if needed
  • Provide insights about job specifications
  • Use ProCore to document progress and send daily reports to the Project Team
  • Read job plans at least twice daily and inspect job progress during job walks
  • Guide work and coordinate with subcontractors to schedule activities
  • Conduct daily meetings with retail clients, the EWB construction team, and inspectors
  • Coordinate all site construction activities and supervise up to approximately 140 field personnel per day
  • Run projects of approximately $5 million or more, completing them on schedule and within budget
  • Ensure finished products meet quality standards, regulations, and inspection requirements
  • Hold subcontractors accountable for general safety procedures
  • Create, submit, and track RFIs and RFI responses to identify change-order scope
  • Demonstrate integrity, compassion, and empathy when dealing with clients and promote a strong work ethic
  • Step into projects in progress and take on Superintendent duties across different specialties
  • Complete clean and tight projects on time with fewer than two loose ends at completion

Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in a Superintendent role required
  • 3+ years experience building/remodeling in retail, hospitality, fuel stations, open store remodels, or fast food, with experience in the last 5 years required
  • Proficient in math skills, including adding, subtracting, multiplication and division, calculating square footage, and take-off materials
  • Able to read construction documents and knowledgeable in construction methods
  • Computer skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Microsoft Project, Word)
  • Intermediate proficiency with ProCore is a plus
  • Possession of a valid CA Driver’s License, good driving history, and dependable transportation is required
  • Must pass a background check
  • Current OSHA 10 and CPR certification is a plus
  • Demonstrated history of working safely and adhering to safety standards
  • Willing and able to travel extensively throughout California and other assigned project locations as business needs require
  • Ability to accommodate frequent overnight travel, extended stays near project sites, work in multiple geographic regions, and remain on-site during critical project phases
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as necessary
  • Able to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, kneeling, bending, standing, climbing, repetitive motion, and use of hand tools
