Job Description

Systems Administrator managing computer systems at Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station. Ensuring smooth operation and system integrity with DoD compliance and certifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains smooth operation of computer NIPR, SIPR and Mission systems (to include operating systems, software and hardware) in networked or stand-alone configurations.
  • Maintains system integrity, and upgrades systems and/or servers as required.
  • Consults with support teams, help desks, customers and other technical staff in the resolution of problems.
  • Coordinates and performs operation and/or maintenance activities for networks/servers.
  • Identifies recurring problems and recommends steps to reduce the severity or frequency of problems.
  • Plans for the transition of development and/or production environments to new technologies.
  • Utilizes system software to monitor the performance of system files, manages system data to maintain performance efficiencies and/or study system requirements to determine proper server installation methods and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Must possess an active DoD SECRET clearance, or higher.
  • Must have one of the following DoD 8140.03 compliant certifications CompTIA Security+, CISSP, GICSP, GSEC or SSCP or be able to obtain within 60 days of starting work.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/System Administration with 2 years of experience, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work and interface with associate contractors, military personnel, and the Government customer.
  • Must have proficiency in managing and troubleshooting various operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and Unix.
  • Must have strong understanding of network protocols, configuration, and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Must have experience with server hardware, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Must have knowledge of security best practices, firewalls, VPNs, and data protection.
  • Must have proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automating tasks.
  • Must have experience with backup solutions, disaster recovery planning, and execution.
