Job Description
AbbVie Account Specialist expanding Anti-Infective medicine access and sales across Baltimore East, Maryland, and Delaware healthcare accounts. Building hospital relationships, delivering compliant product presentations, and coordinating patient-focused solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Maximize opportunities for AbbVie’s Anti-Infective product portfolio across a single-layer geography
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with hospitals, IDNs, academic institutions, outpatient accounts, long-term care facilities, government accounts, and specialty private practices
- Increase patient access, develop new business, expand current business, maximize resource utilization, and increase sales to achieve geography goals
- Advance hospital and specialty customers along the sales continuum and gain prescriber commitments
- Deliver on-label presentations and sales calls highlighting product benefits and risks
- Differentiate the portfolio’s value proposition among executives, physicians, hospital staff, and support personnel
- Solve product and patient-flow issues through Specialty Pharmacy, Specialty Distribution, and Buy and Bill channels
- Coordinate stakeholders across departments around patient-focused solutions
- Partner with field and in-house AbbVie teams to develop compliant approaches and tactics
- Create, execute, and monitor strategic geography business plans
- Determine account priorities, channels, healthcare-provider focus, and contact frequency
- Use account data to maintain account profiles and relationship maps
- Target stakeholders and decision makers to expand physician usage and the customer base
- Participate in local boards, societies, conventions, and healthcare-provider meetings
- Represent AbbVie and assigned products at industry venues and channel key information internally
- Complete required training and comply with company policies and OEC/Legal procedures
- Meet healthcare-industry representative credentialing requirements
- Collaborate across healthcare institutions and with cross-functional partners
- Cover the assigned geography, including Eastern Shore, MD; Baltimore East, MD; and all of Delaware
- Travel adequately to cover the territory and attend overnight training events and sales meetings
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required
- At least five years of relevant and equivalent industry experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree
- Three or more years of pharmaceutical, health, or science industry experience preferred within the equivalent-experience pathway
- High school diploma/GED required
- Account-based selling experience in hospitals, wound care centers, or infusion centers
- Experience building hospital advocacy for acute products
- Experience navigating matrix environments and complex customers such as IDNs, academic institutions, hospitals, and outpatient accounts
- Knowledge of formulary approval processes and driving formulary approvals
- Buy and Bill and specialty pharmacy product experience preferred
- Documented strong sales performance and advanced sales skills
- Ability to communicate novel or complex products and processes clearly, overcome customer concerns, advance sales, and gain new business
- Strong business acumen, accountability, ownership of sales geography, multitasking, problem-solving, and influencing without authority
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple accounts
- Analytical ability to analyze diverse data sets using multiple tools and define account/program strategies
- Strong planning, organization, presentation, facilitation, and problem-resolution skills
- Ability to learn procedural, technical, and clinical information quickly
- Ability to understand, articulate, and present complex scientific information to varied audiences
- Ability to build collaborative partnerships and work effectively as an individual contributor
- Ability to fully cover the assigned geography
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to travel adequately, including overnight training events and sales meetings
- English language proficiency verbally and in writing
- Ability to satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements, including possible background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, fingerprinting, and state or city-specific licenses
- Ability to be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain required HCIR credentials
