Job Description

Remote Accounting Manager reviewing U.S. client financials, reconciliations, and month-end close. Providing technical oversight, quality control, and mentorship to a growing bookkeeping team.

Responsibilities:

  • Review client financial statements before delivery
  • Analyze balance sheet accounts for discrepancies, unusual activity, and unsupported balances
  • Identify trends, inconsistencies, and accounting issues requiring follow-up
  • Review bank and credit card reconciliations, journal entries, schedules, and supporting documentation
  • Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, and client-ready
  • Own the month-end close review process for bookkeeping clients
  • Investigate unusual or unexpected changes in financial activity
  • Escalate significant accounting issues to management when appropriate
  • Supervise, support, and provide technical guidance to bookkeeping staff
  • Train and mentor team members on accounting practices and quality standards
  • Serve as the primary accounting resource for the bookkeeping department
  • Maintain and improve quality control standards and review procedures
  • Assist with cleanup and catch-up projects as needed
  • Initially manage approximately 10–15 clients, with production responsibilities decreasing as the team grows
  • Help develop, document, and improve accounting processes and best practices
  • Reports to the VP of Firm Operations
  • Provide technical accounting oversight and quality control connecting bookkeeping functions and ensuring final financials meet standards

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, CAS, outsourced accounting, or public accounting
  • 2+ years in a reviewing, supervisory, or accounting leadership role
  • Strong QuickBooks Online (QBO) experience
  • Strong financial statement and balance sheet review skills
  • Experience reviewing reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules
  • Ability to independently identify accounting issues and discrepancies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Initial onboarding requires availability during U.S. Eastern Time hours
  • Ongoing collaboration during Eastern Time business hours is required
  • Preferred: Experience working with U.S.-based clients
  • Preferred: CAS, outsourced accounting, or public accounting experience
  • Preferred: Experience managing multiple clients
  • Preferred: Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls
  • Preferred: CPA, CA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent certification
  • Preferred: Experience supporting or leading team growth
