Job Description
Supervisor, Accounting at TDS leading a team to ensure compliance with accounting standards. Overseeing daily accounting activities, financial reporting, and team development efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction to Accounting team
- Supervising team members, evaluating performance and providing feedback
- Development and maintenance of applicable metrics and reporting
- Identify and lead business process improvement opportunities
- Ensure compliance with SOX and other internal controls and standard business practices
- Review work product of other team members
- May be assigned to management of one or more finance functional areas below:
- Supervise process to prepare and review journal entries in accordance with regulatory and/or GAAP requirements
- Review reconciliations and research discrepancies of balance sheet accounts
- Review certain external regulatory filings and reporting
- Manage the monitoring of cash general ledger accounts and reconciliation of bank accounts and statements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) or 4+ years professional work experience
- 5+ years’ experience in the application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- 2+ years of experience directly supervising employees or leading projects/teams
- Experience with large process improvement and/or organizational efforts
- CPA or eligibility to sit for the CPA within the first six months of employment
- Knowledge of GAAP, SEC rules, and Sarbanes Oxley Act requirements
- Knowledge of quarterly, annual and periodic external reporting processes of 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K and other SEC filings
- Strong results orientation, which includes achieving commitments, performance metrics and required delivery dates
- Ability to be a sharp, rigorous thinker who can operate as an intellectual leader among bright, high-energy people
- Demonstrated experience in translating strategy into action with solid planning, execution and change management
