Job Description
Actuarial analyst developing personal-lines insurance pricing and loss-reserving models for CSAA Insurance Group. Supporting regulatory filings, product monitoring, competitive analysis, and pricing strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Research and develop new methods for insurance rating and loss reserving
- Prepare and coordinate analyses of rate and statistical filings for submission to regulatory and insurance agencies
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and insurance requirements
- Serve as project leader for relatively complex projects and studies
- Use GLM and other statistical techniques to build, maintain, and enhance auto and homeowners rating algorithms
- Evaluate and estimate model-related impacts and demonstrate expected model results
- Implement end-to-end formal modeling processes, including data gathering, profiling, numerical model building, calibration, and validation
- Provide filing support, product performance monitoring, and ad hoc business insights with Pricing and Product Management
- Recommend and assist with implementation of rating structures and pricing strategies
- Update and maintain loss cost modeling datasets
- Analyze industry developments, trends, and the market landscape
- Perform competitive analysis and understand competitors' products
- Support development of new products
- Review peers' work and provide training to junior analysts
- Develop and analyze data related to complex actuarial functions
- Evaluate analytical work performed by others and make decisions and recommendations
- Develop new methodologies for insurance rating and loss reserving
Requirements:
- BA/BS in statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, or a related area and 5 years of post-bachelor experience performing statistical and actuarial analysis on personal lines insurance, or a graduate degree in a related area and 3 years of such experience
- At least 5 years of experience performing statistical and actuarial analysis on personal lines pricing insurance
- Completion of 5 or more actuarial exams
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and programming languages such as SQL, R, Python, Emblem, and Radar
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Expert-level problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Proven oral and written communication skills, including ability to give formal presentations
- Proven team leadership ability
- Basic computer software programming skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Pattern-recognition and logic-based thinking skills
- Solid understanding of the market landscape
- In-depth actuarial industry knowledge and knowledge of the insurance marketplace
- Ability to travel as needed for divisional/team meetings and other in-person meetings
- Must be authorized to work indefinitely in the United States
- Must not require immigration support now or in the future, including H-1B, TN, or STEM OPT Training Plans
