Job Description
Part-time Associate Merchant supporting Crate and Barrel home furnishings assortment, pricing, and vendor strategy. Analyzing sales, margins, trends, and merchandising opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Merchant in product assortment, financial planning and vendor partnerships
- Make recommendations regarding product assortment, pricing and merchandising strategies based on trends and forecasts
- Provide expert recommendations on seasonal and core product mix
- Analyze sales information to identify opportunities to increase sales and margins
- Recommend, set and approve product-pricing strategies and execute exit strategies
- Negotiate product costs, terms, subsidy and VIR
- Develop and maintain vendor partnerships and support supplier management strategy
- Build and maintain assortment plans and SKU counts
- Gather and synthesize partner information for strategic recommendations
- Analyze business trends and opportunities using test strategies
- Provide recommendations on short-term buying plans and long-term strategies
- Conduct competitive intelligence to identify in-season and future-season opportunities and challenges
- Lead product sequencing, including layouts, copy edits and communication with cross-functional teams
Requirements:
- Understanding of merchandising plans and processes
- Strong financial acumen and negotiation experience
- Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Strong communication skills
- Highly collaborative
- Strong attention to detail
- 3+ years retail merchandising experience, or education equivalent or related area
- Bachelor's degree
- Authorization to work in the United States, verified through Form I-9 and E-Verify
