Job Description

Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist responsible for diabetes education and support. Work with diverse patients remotely to improve health outcomes via phone and webinars.

Responsibilities:

  • provide diabetes education support to patients with the goal of improving adherence and health outcomes
  • quickly establish rapport and therapeutic alliances via phone with a diverse population of patients
  • produce behavior change among patients using motivational interviewing techniques
  • present online webinars
  • consistently meet call metrics while also meeting quality requirements

Requirements:

  • Must have a current certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE)
  • Must be fluent in Spanish
  • Proven experience utilizing motivational interviewing to provide positive behavior change
  • Demonstrated ability to receive constructive feedback and then incorporate it into patient calls to drive performance
  • Must have a home office for private patient conversation along with high-speed internet
  • Able to work independently and manage time efficiently
  • Must be comfortable utilizing advanced technology (Electronic Medical Records, Microsoft Office, scripting applications, device data, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize patient needs and adapt communication techniques to best serve a diverse patient population
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be able to commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week to accommodate patients
  • Cannot hold full-time employment elsewhere
