Job Description
Counsel providing legal support for contracting activities at The Cigna Group. Focusing on negotiating and drafting contract terms related to healthcare and pharmacy services in the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Provides enterprise-wide support and guidance for U.S. and global contracting activities
- Negotiate various types of services, licensing and technology transactions with domestic and international clients
- Negotiate resolutions to disputed, pre-litigation issues consistent with Cigna’s objectives
- Provide and manage contract template language and accompanying training materials for use by Evernorth contracting staff
- Effectively matrix with senior-level attorneys and critical business partners
- Manage outside counsel on discrete matters as may be required
- Proactively identify contracting risks for business partners
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor required and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- 3+ years of commercial contracting experience in positions of increasing responsibility
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills
- Strong preference for familiarity with healthcare, insurance, benefits and/or pharmacy
- Experience supporting Freedom of Information Act and/or Public Information Act reviews is a plus
- Ability to understand complex transactions, including intellectual property, international/multinational, and privacy issues
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with clients and internal business partners, both verbally and in writing.
- Must produce top-quality work product, have a strong work ethic and have the ability to work quickly and efficiently.
- Must be able to manage competing priorities and to meet demanding deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to identify business and legal issues and propose actionable legal and business solutions.
- Demonstrate good judgment and attention to detail.
- Ability and desire to learn new subject areas and willingness take on new responsibilities.
