Job Description

Counsel supporting PBM sales and contract negotiations at The Cigna Group. Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and clients to manage legal aspects of agreements.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal support to the Sales and Account Management organization and other internal business partners supporting PBM clients (Finance, Audit, etc.)
  • Negotiate complex legal documents, including PBM client agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and data protection agreements directly with external clients, including employer groups, coalitions and consultants
  • Collaborate strategically with internal business partners to advise on new business offerings, identify legal or regulatory challenges and present effective solutions
  • Effectively matrix with senior-level attorneys and critical business partners, including Compliance, Privacy, Information Technology, operations and Corporate/Business Development
  • Manage outside counsel on discrete matters as may be required
  • Work with Legal, Compliance and business clients in developing, implementing, and coordinating contracting and governance strategies
  • Proactively identify contracting risks for business partners

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) required; active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • 3+ years of commercial contracting experience , including drafting and negotiating complex agreements.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and risk‑analysis skills
  • Preferred experience in healthcare, insurance, benefits, and/or pharmacy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with legal and non‑legal partners
  • Ability and willingness to learn new subject areas and take on expanded responsibilities
