Remote Designer creating precision mechanical drawings, 3D models, and GD&T documentation for Idaho National Laboratory. Supporting fabrication, installation, and mission-critical DOE and DoD projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate engineering requirements into detailed drawings, 3D parametric models, assemblies, and technical documentation supporting fabrication and installation
  • Develop and revise 2D drawings, 3D parametric models, assemblies, and associated documentation using approved engineering inputs
  • Prepare drawings defining geometry, interfaces, materials, finishes, processes, tolerances, inspection requirements, and assembly relationships
  • Apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2009
  • Evaluate tolerance accumulation and fit at part and assembly interfaces
  • Apply sound parametric modeling practices, including fully constrained sketches, stable design intent, controlled references, and organized assembly structures
  • Independently check drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, fit, form, function, manufacturability, inspectability, and standards compliance
  • Verify bills of material, parts lists, item balloons, quantities, drawing references, notes, weld symbols, and revision information
  • Maintain drawing and model integrity through document control, revision control, configuration management, and records processes
  • Resolve technical review comments and maintain an auditable record of changes
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, fabricators, and inspectors to clarify requirements and resolve discrepancies
  • Manage assigned priorities, provide progress updates, and communicate scope, resource, or schedule concerns
  • Support backlog reduction and mentor drafting personnel when requested
  • Perform other duties assigned by the BEA Technical Point of Contact

  • Specialization in precision mechanical design, including 3D parametric modeling, part and assembly detailing, and fabrication drawings
  • Ability to apply GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5-2009 and evaluate tolerance accumulation and fit at part and assembly interfaces
  • Experience independently checking drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, manufacturability, inspectability, and compliance with applicable standards
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications, calculations, vendor data, and redlines while preserving engineering intent
  • Working knowledge of materials, machining, welding, fabrication, inspection, and assembly methods
  • Experience working within drawing revision control and configuration management processes
