Job Description
Director, Claims at Coverys providing strategic leadership in claims management and execution of best practices in territory. Collaborating with V.P. on departmental policies and overseeing staff operations.
Responsibilities:
- Provides strategic and operational Claim leadership for the assigned territory
- Assures claim performance is sound both technically and financially
- Develops plans for achieving corporate goals and objectives
- Direct claim management staff in their respective roles
- Oversee activities of staff involved in the accurate, efficient and equitable disposition of claims and losses
- Coordinate and collaborate with V.P. and claim management staff in creating and updating of departmental policies and procedures
- Participate in claim file audits
- Assist in preparation and monitoring of departmental budget
- Interact regularly with peers in key business units to ensure overall business/strategy goals are met
- Guide, support, and mentor staff regarding individual claim decisions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
- 5-10 years management experience in medical professional liability claims and litigation management
- General knowledge and experience in insurance, law and medicine is strongly desired
- Strong communication skills and ability to successfully lead teams is required
- Ability to build relationships with both internal and external business partners
- Advanced analytical and decision-making skills
- Must be able to travel as applicable.
