Job Description
Humana engineering director leading AI-first transformation of clinical technology, interoperability, and Medicare Advantage platforms. Driving Epic UM/CM delivery, modern data architecture, and enterprise AI adoption.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and scale an engineering organization responsible for enterprise integrations, clinical data platforms, and payer/provider interoperability
- Own the AI-first engineering agenda, driving adoption of AI-assisted development, agentic workflows, and SDLC automation
- Provide technical and delivery leadership across Epic Tapestry Utilization Management and Compass Rose Care Management integration programs
- Partner with Deloitte, Wipro, Rackspace, and Sagility to maintain delivery accountability
- Drive architecture and delivery for clinical and healthcare data platforms using Databricks and Snowflake
- Identify and scale AI use cases that compress delivery timelines, testing cycles, and operational costs
- Partner with clinical, product, and compliance leaders to translate healthcare operations into scalable AI-enabled technical solutions
- Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team
- Represent engineering in executive- and board-level conversations on technology transformation, delivery risk, and AI strategy
- Deliver critical Epic UM and CM milestones while shifting engineering toward AI-assisted development by default
- Report to an Associate VP, Technology Solutions
Requirements:
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience leading AI-first or AI-assisted engineering transformation at team or organizational scale
- Experience adopting tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or comparable agentic/AI development platforms
- Strong technical foundation in enterprise integration and interoperability, including APIs, HL7, FHIR, and EDI/X12
- Experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent
- Track record leading engineering teams through large-scale platform transformation and multi-vendor delivery environments
- Executive-level communication skills for translating technical delivery into business and clinical outcomes
- Must reside in close proximity to one of the listed U.S. locations
- Ability to work from a dedicated space without ongoing interruptions to protect PHI/HIPAA information
- Home internet with at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload
- Preferred: experience supporting payer or clinical operations, including UM, CM, HEDIS, STAR Ratings, or Value-Based Care
- Preferred: healthcare technology experience
- Preferred: direct Epic Tapestry and/or Compass Rose experience
- Preferred: Medicare Advantage, commercial payer, or Value-Based Care experience
- Preferred: Azure, AWS, or GCP certification or deep hands-on experience
- Preferred: experience establishing or scaling an AI Center of Excellence, AI governance framework, or enterprise AI adoption program
- Preferred: experience leading regulatory-driven transformation such as CMS interoperability mandates
