Job Description

Finance director managing $70M+ budgets, forecasting, and financial operations for Georgetown University’s Main Campus administrative units. Leading analysts and partnering with university stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of budget and financial operations for assigned Main Campus Administrative Units
  • Report directly to the Senior Business Manager and work closely on operational, planning and strategic matters
  • Provide direct oversight of a Senior Financial Analyst and indirect oversight of an Associate Director of Finance & Operations
  • Lead annual budget activities, including top-down and detailed budget development and forecasting
  • Monitor actual unit performance against budget
  • Manage financial operations and year-end close activities for units with an annual expense budget exceeding $70M
  • Review and oversee HCM transactions as a Finance Partner under the guidance of the Senior Business Manager
  • Plan and monitor restricted funds and research expenditures as directed by the Senior Business Manager and Main Campus CFO
  • Work regularly with procurement staff and accountants
  • Collaborate with Unit Heads, university departments, finance teams, Associate Directors, Directors, Senior Business Managers, the Campus CFO and other Main Campus leaders
  • Participate in the Main Campus Financial Operations Working Group
  • Provide financial support and customer service to a wide range of university constituents

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Master’s degree in economics, finance, business or accounting is strongly preferred
  • A Bachelor’s degree plus substantial experience in closely related fields may substitute for a Master’s degree
  • 10+ years' of progressive work experience in financial analysis and budgeting in a sophisticated office environment
  • Relevant financial acumen, including budgeting, transactional support, revenue-generating activities, chart of accounts, journals, requisitions, purchase orders, procurement, and travel
  • Ability to build and utilize financial reports
  • Advanced business analytics skills
  • Ability to support the establishment and management of budgets of $70M+
  • Strong leadership skills coupled with proven team management abilities
  • Prior experience working with complex teams
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to engage regularly with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; proficiency managing and prioritizing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work with a variety of financial systems, with prior experience preferred in Workday and Adaptive
  • Ability to interpret the strategic goals and plan for assigned units
  • Revenue and expenditure analysis experience
  • Prior experience with complex financial and longitudinal planning and financial forecasting
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to triage and solve complex challenges and requests
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, with mastery of Excel and experience managing and analyzing large volumes of data
  • Service-oriented, professional demeanor and team orientation required
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a high-paced environment
  • Ability to think outside the box and solve problems creatively
