Job Description

Director of Accounting & Finance leading finance functions at The Linux Foundation. Responsible for financial reporting, strategic planning, and team management with an emphasis on operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the finance and accounting departments, including teams responsible for financial reporting, planning, analysis and compliance
  • Monitor the monthly financial close process, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded; reviewing journal entries and account balance reconciliations; and financial statement preparation
  • Participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changes
  • Ensure timely filing of all financial statements, reports, and tax filings, including VAT, with internal and external stakeholders
  • Interact at all levels with budget owners to produce timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close and all internal management and financial reporting
  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance
  • Maintain the chart of accounts to ensure accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements
  • Analyze the effect of statutory accounting practices to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration from an accredited institution
  • 10+ years of experience in finance and accounting roles, including 5+ years in a team leadership and management
  • Proven track record in financial reporting, strategic financial planning, and team management
  • Experience working in complex, large-scale organizations or companies with multi-department financial structures
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards (GAAP), and tax laws
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in financial software (ERP systems, Excel, and financial modeling)
  • Ability to think strategically and manage complex financial scenarios
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • High level of integrity and transparency in financial reporting and decision-making
  • A proactive problem-solver with the ability to drive change and process improvements
  • Must be a dynamic self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently on special projects.
