Job Description
Director of Donor Relations responsible for cultivating donor relationships that support Watch Duty's mission. Leading strategy development and stewardship efforts in a high-growth organization.
Responsibilities:
- Create, implement, and manage a comprehensive donor engagement and stewardship strategy.
- Build lasting relationships with supporters across all revenue streams (including monthly donors, major donors, foundations, and corporate partners).
- Ensure donors feel deeply connected to Watch Duty’s mission, valued for their support, and confident in the impact of their giving.
- Actively prospect and cultivate new donors in partnership with the Chief Impact Officer.
- Maintain a strong external presence, representing Watch Duty with clarity and credibility in donor-facing settings.
- Serve as a primary relationship manager for many donors, building trust-based, long-term partnerships.
- Plan and execute donor calls, meetings, briefings, and events.
- Adapt donor engagement strategies and communications as disasters emerge and evolve.
- Build and maintain scalable donor relations systems and processes that support Watch Duty’s rapid growth.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in donor relations, ideally in a high-growth or entrepreneurial organization.
- Proven experience stewarding existing donors and prospecting new donor relationships across multiple revenue streams.
- Strong external-facing presence with the ability to build credibility and rapport with donors and partners.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate real-time, complex work into compelling donor narratives.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic planning with flexibility and execution in dynamic environments.
- Highly collaborative, with comfort partnering closely with senior leadership.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience using CRMs as strategic tools for relationship management, donor insight, and fundraising planning.
