Job Description
Director of EHS Operations developing and implementing safety programs at GAF. Overseeing compliance and EHS initiatives contributing to corporate safety culture.
Responsibilities:
- Developing, implementing, supporting corporate safety programs, and ensuring compliance throughout GAF.
- Directing the strategy and overseeing the execution of safety and corporate EHS initiatives across all GAF.
- Designing, developing and managing high quality and effective EHS learning solutions, training instruments and EHS curriculums.
- Establishing organizational goals based on gap analysis, prioritizing issues, developing projects to achieve goals and sustain compliance with government regulations.
- Serving as a key member of the EHS staff with responsibility for assisting in implementation of GAF safety and health strategies, policies, standards, compliance, and management initiatives.
- Evaluating effectiveness of initiatives through safety assessments and interpreting data to identify gaps.
- Developing and implementing action plans as necessary to mitigate risks.
- Assisting in the development of business goals and objectives.
- Working to foster an atmosphere of openness and information sharing in order to encourage a culture of high awareness, transparency and diligence with respect to safety and health matters.
- Promoting employee awareness of safety requirements and hazard mitigation through training and continual communication with Leadership.
- Maintaining and assisting in the continued development of GAF Incident Management System, including the development of (monthly) performance reporting to provide visibility of safety progress, performance, and issues.
- Leading compliance audits and assessments of operations to measure conformance to GAF policy and procedures and working closely with leadership to identify corrective actions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in Safety, Engineering, or a related degree field
- Post graduate degree Preferred
- 10 years EHS experience, 5 years management of others Required
- Ability to effectively adapt to changing needs and priorities while maintaining a positive attitude with a focus on client success.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills that are leveraged to build relationships and trust with internal and external stakeholders.
- Must have excellent organizational, written and oral communication, listening and presentation skills including the ability to effectively present and discuss technical information and respond to questions from employees, government agency representatives, and customers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to establish trust and relationships.
- Demonstrated openness to change, flexibility, and adaptability.
- Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
- Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite Office.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Commitment and engagement through a high level of work ethic and utilization of abilities for the best of the company.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) Preferred
