Job Description

People Business Partner Lead shaping talent strategy, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness for the National MS Society. Advising leaders and guiding HR programs in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary People Business Partner Lead for assigned functions throughout the employee lifecycle
  • Co-create talent strategies with People & Culture and functional leaders aligned with organizational goals
  • Advise and coach leaders across leadership and expertise levels
  • Build trusted relationships and influence leadership decisions to drive organizational effectiveness
  • Collaborate with Recruiting to address current and future talent needs, specialty skills, budgets, pay parity, geographic needs, and succession planning
  • Conduct internal assessments and external scans to identify talent gaps and solutions
  • Use data and insights to build business cases for talent strategies and practices
  • Shape organizational design, define job roles, and optimize talent processes
  • Facilitate performance reviews, talent calibration, succession planning, and development conversations
  • Ensure follow-through on development actions and readiness plans
  • Implement talent management initiatives and deliver special projects
  • Distribute training materials on workplace accommodation and performance management
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and development opportunities to direct reports in Employee Relations and HR Admin
  • Lead and support employee relations issues and investigations with Business Partners, Legal, and Compliance
  • Provide tactical guidance on complex employee matters and regulatory compliance
  • Support HR initiatives such as harassment training and maintain investigation documentation
  • Coordinate onboarding and offboarding logistics and support exit interviews
  • Ensure accurate employee records in HR systems
  • Design, review, and update HR policies and procedures with legal, compliance, and HR teams
  • Interpret and apply HR policies consistently with managers and employees
  • Advocate for client group needs during enterprise-wide HR program design and rollout
  • Lead change management for talent-related initiatives and advise leaders on employee impacts and risk mitigation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in HR, Business, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in leadership roles, with a significant portion within Human Resources roles focused on Talent Management
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR business partner experience with deep experience within employee relations and conflict resolution
  • Human resources or operations experience in the non-profit sector with peer to peer fundraising preferred
  • HR certification (e.g. CHRL, SHRP, PHR, SPHR) preferred
  • Strong communication skills across verbal, written, remote, in-person, 1:1, group, formal, and informal formats
  • Excellent EQ interpersonal skills and ability to partner with people from diverse backgrounds and career stages
  • Strong collaboration skills within remote and hybrid teams
  • Facilitation ability to engage, inspire, and communicate concepts and expectations
  • Experience creating best practices leveraging automation and AI
  • Strong working knowledge and experience leveraging Workday HCM for HR business processes and workflows
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including developing and mentoring others in a remote-first environment
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%
