Job Description
Director of Talent & People Operations leading recruiting, employee relations, and workforce planning for outdoor hospitality company Under Canvas. Managing seasonal hiring and HRBP support across dispersed camps.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all recruiting and staffing initiatives
- Partner with the VP of Hospitality and Regional Directors on workforce planning and recruiting strategies for seasonal and camp hiring
- Develop relationships with universities and other recruiting avenues
- Represent Under Canvas at university career fairs, hospitality/tourism program events, and community hiring events
- Oversee the J-1 host employer program and sponsor partnerships with the HRBP
- Oversee candidate sourcing, offers, and onboarding processes with the HRBP
- Manage corporate recruiting and interviewing needs
- Partner with Regional Directors on talent and succession needs
- Build off-season pipelines and recruitment strategies focused on hospitality/tourism programs, seasonal channels, and local communities near camps
- Manage recruiting metrics and hiring effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies in hiring practices
- Maintain the ADP Applicant Tracking System
- Partner with the VP of HR on employer branding initiatives
- Support employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, performance coaching, and employment decisions
- Ensure consistency in policy application
- Design and oversee onboarding programs with the HRBP
- Improve new-hire retention and engagement
- Develop and maintain the learning and development platform with the VP of HR and HRBP
- Oversee the Manager Toolkit, Staffing Workbook, and HR SharePoint
- Supervise and develop the HRBP
- Establish priorities and workload distribution
- Ensure consistent HR support across departments
- Act as a cultural steward reinforcing company values and leadership expectations
Requirements:
- 7+ years HR experience
- 5+ years full-cycle recruiting experience
- Experience with high-volume recruiting, applicant tracking systems, and recruiting metrics
- Experience with employee relations and investigations
- Prior experience serving as an HR business partner or senior HR generalist preferred
- Multi-state employment law experience
- Hospitality, tourism, and seasonal recruiting experience preferred
- Experience with J-1 or other international seasonal hiring programs preferred
- Prior supervisory experience
- Ability to travel occasionally, including to camp locations and recruiting and career events
