Job Description
Director leading revenue, reporting, and technical accounting functions at Spok. Managing revenue recognition and compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements in a healthcare communications company.
Responsibilities:
- Lead revenue, reporting and technical accounting functions
- Own and manage end-to-end month-end and quarter-end revenue accounting close process
- Serve as the primary ASC 606 subject matter expert
- Review and assess customer contracts for appropriate revenue recognition treatment
- Directly manage, mentor, and develop the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting and the Revenue Accountant
- Drive and participate in ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives
- Coordinate with external auditors on revenue-related audit procedures
- Oversee the accounting and reporting of cost of sales
- Manage the allowance for credit losses methodology in accordance with ASC 326
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting and/or revenue and financial reporting
- Prior people management experience required, including direct supervisory responsibility; experience managing professional accounting staff (e.g., managers or senior accountants) strongly preferred
- Experience working within the revenue department of a public company
- Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and GAAP
- Advanced working knowledge of SEC reporting and disclosure requirements
- CPA license
- Big Four public accounting experience
- Experience with SEC reporting tools, particularly Workiva
- Experience with NetSuite Software is a plus.
