Job Description

Director leading revenue, reporting, and technical accounting functions at Spok. Managing revenue recognition and compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements in a healthcare communications company.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead revenue, reporting and technical accounting functions
  • Own and manage end-to-end month-end and quarter-end revenue accounting close process
  • Serve as the primary ASC 606 subject matter expert
  • Review and assess customer contracts for appropriate revenue recognition treatment
  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop the Senior Manager, Revenue Accounting and the Revenue Accountant
  • Drive and participate in ad hoc projects and process improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate with external auditors on revenue-related audit procedures
  • Oversee the accounting and reporting of cost of sales
  • Manage the allowance for credit losses methodology in accordance with ASC 326

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in public accounting and/or revenue and financial reporting
  • Prior people management experience required, including direct supervisory responsibility; experience managing professional accounting staff (e.g., managers or senior accountants) strongly preferred
  • Experience working within the revenue department of a public company
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and GAAP
  • Advanced working knowledge of SEC reporting and disclosure requirements
  • CPA license
  • Big Four public accounting experience
  • Experience with SEC reporting tools, particularly Workiva
  • Experience with NetSuite Software is a plus.
