Job Description
Dyslexia Specialist delivering virtual structured literacy and reading intervention for Texas Sports Academy student-athletes. Monitoring progress, coordinating accommodations, and supporting families across the online K-12 learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-on-one and small-group structured literacy sessions over video using an evidence-based approach tailored to each student's profile
- Support students with decoding, fluency, spelling, and reading comprehension
- Adjust instruction based on student progress
- Use running records, curriculum-based measures, and other reading assessments to monitor growth
- Adjust instructional plans on a regular cadence
- Collaborate with academic guides and athletic coaches to apply accommodations and strategies consistently
- Provide parents with regular updates on strategies, progress, and next steps
- Coach parents on reinforcing reading work at home
- Help students use text-to-speech, audiobooks, and other tools effectively
- Ensure classroom accommodations translate into the online learning environment
Requirements:
- Direct experience supporting students with dyslexia or related reading differences, with specific examples of reading gains achieved
- Completed training in Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, LETRS, or a comparable structured literacy program
- Ability to use structured literacy methods in day-to-day practice
- Ability to interpret student assessment data and identify appropriate instructional next steps
- Ability to communicate instructional plans clearly to parents and staff
- Understanding of competitive youth athletics and ability to build trust with student-athletes
- Bachelor's degree in education, special education, reading, speech-language pathology, or a related field
- Must be based remotely in the U.S.

- Bonus: CALT, CALP, or comparable certification in dyslexia intervention
