Job Description
Education Policy Researcher at American Institutes for Research focusing on PK–12 finance policy and funding systems. Leading research efforts to inform education financing strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Develop research designs for evaluating PK–12 education funding policies
- Build innovations in strategic funding for special education and English learners
- Support policymakers in analyzing funding to improve low performing schools
- Manage or lead projects and tasks over time
- Analyze financial and administrative data using education finance research methods
- Collect data to describe resource allocation strategies
- Prepare written materials that are accessible to policymakers
- Present findings to clients and the public
- Participate and lead efforts to prepare research proposals for funding
- Supervise and mentor junior staff
Requirements:
- Ph.D./Ed.D. or master's degree with 4-7 years of experience in education policy or related field
- Knowledge or experience analyzing primary and administrative data including fiscal data
- Demonstrated experience collecting and analyzing educational data including fiscal data detailing school and district expenditures
- Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical audiences
- Expertise in advanced social and behavioral science statistical methods
- Proficiency in statistical applications like Stata or R
