Job Description

Field Service Engineer maintaining and calibrating Instron materials testing systems across Texas. Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and software issues at customer facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to customer facilities throughout Texas and perform preventive maintenance
  • Calibrate precision testing equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment
  • Install and commission new systems
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software-related issues
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on training to customers
  • Complete accurate service documentation, field reports, and expense reports
  • Maintain professionalism and customer satisfaction during service visits
  • Follow company and customer safety procedures
  • Support customers throughout Texas, with occasional travel to other regions for training, customer support, or special projects

Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field preferred
  • Military technical experience or trade school training may be considered in place of a degree
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Comfortable working with Windows-based computers and technical software
  • Excellent organization, communication, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Previous field service experience preferred
  • Preventive or corrective maintenance experience on electro-mechanical or servo-hydraulic equipment preferred
  • Experience with materials testing systems preferred
  • Experience delivering technical training to customers in hands-on and classroom settings preferred
  • Industrial automation or controls experience preferred
  • Ability to travel daily throughout Houston and Texas
  • Willingness to undertake approximately 75% routine overnight travel and occasional travel outside the region
