Job Description
Financial Clearance Representative contacting patients for coverage information and providing financial education. Working in a collaborative team at Ohio State University Physicians to enhance healthcare services.
Responsibilities:
- Contacts patients to collect accurate coverage information
- Uses health information systems for customer interactions
- Performs searches for patients in EPIC database
- Assesses patient’s financial ability to pay for services
- Sends eligibility requests to verify coverage
- Interacts with medical staff and maintains relationships
- Displays high level of customer service
- Alerts management of problems with systems
- Creates estimates and provides financial liability education
Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED
- 1+ years of experience in insurance, healthcare, or related field
- Excellent customer service skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive, confidential situations
- Attendance and professionalism
- Ability to pay attention to detail
- Experience with PC applications including MS Office and Internet
- Ability to maintain employer training requirements
