Job Description
Grant Portfolio Manager managing a portfolio of forestry subawards at Hispanic Access Foundation. Ensuring compliance and providing technical assistance to grantees across the country.
Responsibilities:
- Manage subaward agreements in alignment with 2 CFR 200 Uniform Guidance and organizational policies
- Conduct risk-assessments, including financial risk analysis, due diligence, and verification of required documentation
- Support development and review of compliant budgets, scopes of work, and subaward modification packets
- Coordinate workflow with the Forestry Program Director, Finance, and Compliance Support Specialist to ensure timely execution of awards and smooth administrative processes
- Manage a portfolio of grantees and serve as the day-to-day point of contact for programmatic, reporting, and basic compliance inquiries
- Provide capacity-building technical assistance, particularly for community-based and faith-based organizations new to federal funding and cost-reimbursement processes
- Monitor project activities, benchmarks, and deliverables to ensure alignment with approved scopes of work
- Conduct initial reviews of progress reports, reimbursement requests, and financial documentation prior to submission for compliance and finance review
- Ensure grantees follow subaward requirements and meet all reporting deadlines
- Collaborate with the Compliance Support Specialist by flagging potential compliance issues and implementing recommended corrective or risk-mitigation measures
- Prepare draft corrective action recommendations for Director approval when grantee performance issues arise
- Track project implementation progress, deliverables, and expenditures, maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation for audit readiness
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with grantees, partner organizations, and community coalitions
- Coordinate closely with the Forestry Program Director to support strategic program goals and ensure strong grantee performance across the portfolio
- Work collaboratively across the organization—including finance, compliance, operations, and communications—to support program success and consistency of messaging
- Assist in planning and coordinating grantee meetings, webinars, training sessions, and site visits
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., nonprofit management, business, public administration, finance), or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 3+ years of experience in grant portfolio management, subaward monitoring, or federal grant administration
- Demonstrated experience with 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance) and cost-reimbursement grant processes
- Experience working with organizations new to federal grants and providing technical assistance to high-risk grantees
- Demonstrated capacity-building mindset and ability to support grantees with varying levels of organizational capacity
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and project management skills with a high attention to detail
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate compliance requirements into accessible guidance
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Salesforce or similar grant management databases preferred
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
