Job Description

Group Accountant managing financial reporting and compliance for an insurance portfolio. Coordinating activities and ensuring regulatory compliance with a focus on insurance bookkeeping.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and coordinating the financial reporting, compliance, and accounting activities
  • Maintain and update cash flow forecasts to ensure solvency and liquidity compliance
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and Board reporting packs
  • Monitor capital adequacy in line with AFSL requirements
  • Support external audits and going-concern assessments
  • Manage daily trust account receipts, refunds, and reconciliations
  • Process and reconcile broker bordereaux
  • Oversee premium collections and broker commission settlements
  • Ensure compliance with ASIC and trust account regulations
  • Liaise with auditors on trust account matters
  • Process supplier payments and skeleton payroll
  • Maintain general ledger integrity (Xero)
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Manage intercompany recharges
  • Prepare and submit quarterly BAS returns
  • Liaise with brokers, auditors, and external service providers
  • Respond to finance-related queries on payments and settlements
  • Support internal stakeholders with run-off reporting and analysis

Requirements:

  • Proven insurance bookkeeping experience
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in insurance or financial services accounting
  • Willing to time shift for international brokers.
  • Proficient in computer systems and accounting platforms (e.g. Xero, Excel).
  • Set up for remote work in the event of loadshedding or internet failure.
  • English proficiency, presentability and confidence.
