Job Description

Intermediate Systems Administrator maintaining secure Microsoft and VMware infrastructure. Supporting users, endpoints, networks, backups, and automation for a growing power trading firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and support the Microsoft environment, including Microsoft 365, Windows Server, and Active Directory
  • Recommend and implement security measures and enforce IT policies, including MFA, antivirus, and data protection
  • Support and expand the on-prem VMware environment
  • Monitor system performance, perform routine maintenance, and respond to incidents
  • Recommend process improvements and automation initiatives
  • Set up and maintain user accounts, hardware, and software across endpoints
  • Manage backups, disaster recovery procedures, and patching schedules
  • Support network configuration and troubleshoot connectivity issues
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding, including device and access setup
  • Work with vendors and service providers as needed
  • Document systems, procedures, and change logs for internal use

Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience in a Systems Administrator or IT Support role
  • Proficiency securing IT infrastructure from external and internal attacks
  • Proficiency with Windows Server, Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and VMware
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, operating system, and network layers
  • Familiarity with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell and Bash
  • Understanding of IT security best practices
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and respond quickly to issues
  • Confidence working in a time-sensitive environment
  • Experience in a finance or similar trading environment is nice to have
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure such as Azure/AWS is nice to have
  • Familiarity with virtualization such as Hyper-V and VMware is nice to have
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 is nice to have
  • Comfort working in a lean or startup-style environment is nice to have
