Job Description

Communications Lead supporting brand awareness and thought leadership for Instruction Partners. Engaging in writing, editing, and managing multiple initiatives and communications across various channels.

Responsibilities:

  • The Communications Lead is a versatile, execution-focused communications professional who supports and extends the work of the Director of Communications.
  • Writing and Editorial Support: Revises, edits, and proofreads a range of communications and materials for external releases (e.g., playbooks, toolkits, white papers).
  • In close coordination with the content marketing team, writes supporting content (e.g., blog posts, landing page copy) for major and minor publications.
  • Ghostwrites for and cowrites with subject matter experts across the organization, ensuring consistency with Instruction Partners' voice and editorial standards (e.g., blogs, conference materials, major and minor publications).
  • Supports the development of the CEO's external communications.
  • Supports with research as needed.
  • Develops and routinely revises materials to support strategic team communications (e.g., citation guidelines, quick reference style guide).
  • Major Initiative Support: Supports the Director in producing content for the AI Learning Tour and other major initiatives (e.g., blogs, recaps, supporting collateral, video scripts).
  • In partnership with the Marketing and Communications team, assists with story and key messages development for organizational learning initiatives.
  • Manages logistics and coordination for communications-related components of major initiatives.
  • PR and Earned Media Support: Supports the Director in executing PR and earned media activity—including drafting pitches, maintaining media lists, tracking coverage, and coordinating logistics for media appearances.
  • Maintains the marketing news library in partnership with the Director, monitoring education news, policy, and trends while flagging relevant stories for the Marketing and Communications team and broader organization.
  • Operations and Coordination: Maintains the thought leadership editorial calendar and tracks progress against publication timelines.
  • Coordinates the cross-functional editorial and campaigns sync between the communications and content marketing teams.
  • Manages relationships with external contributors and subject matter experts for editorial projects.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in communications, journalism, public relations, or other writing intensive role
  • Ability to adopt organizational voice across diverse formats—including long-form editorial, executive voice, short-form social, and internal briefing documents—while distilling complex topics into compelling, persuasive content that resonates with key audiences
  • Comfort in every stage of the editorial process from developmental editing to proofreading to ensure clarity, flow, and value to the reader; meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities and meeting rigorous, shifting deadlines with high organization
  • Experience in the education or nonprofit sectors to create mission-driven content that improves student outcomes
  • Ability to work cross-functionally to achieve shared goals while remaining flexible and effective when navigating organizational ambiguity
