Job Description
Licensed insurance specialist selling Trupanion’s medical insurance for cats and dogs. Serving pet owners remotely across Canada through consultative inbound sales and enrollment.
Responsibilities:
- Answer inbound warm leads from potential customers interested in pet insurance policies
- Use a consultative sales style to understand customer needs and tailor insurance solutions
- Present the value and benefits of pet insurance policies
- Set call agendas to maintain call control and guide conversations toward enrollment
- Provide information about policies and coverage options and answer customer questions and objections
- Overcome objections and concerns with confidence and empathy
- Use assumptive closing techniques to guide customers through enrollment
- Accurately enroll pets in policies and collect and document required information
- Assist current members contacting Trupanion
- Collaborate with the sales team and management to meet and exceed sales targets and objectives
- Handle escalated customers and sensitive conversations while providing a positive customer experience
Requirements:
- Active provincial General/P&C Insurance license, such as an OTL General Insurance Agent license, General Level 1 license, or equivalent, depending on province of residence
- Eligible for license reciprocity in additional jurisdictions, excluding Québec
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a sales role
- Excellent communication skills with a customer-centric approach
- Ability to actively listen, understand customer needs, and provide appropriate solutions
- Familiarity with the insurance industry, particularly pet insurance, is a plus
- Strong ability to handle objections and turn them into opportunities
- Proven track record of achieving or surpassing sales targets and productivity expectations
- Positive attitude, adaptability, and willingness to learn and grow within the role
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and data entry
- Availability to work rotating shifts, including both Saturday and Sunday
- Must be licensed to sell insurance in Canada and the province of residence
- Weekend availability required
- Ability to work 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week, with flexibility across shift times
- Training schedule availability Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Pacific Time for the first eight weeks
