Job Description
Licensing Programs Manager advancing Scouting America’s youth-focused brand licensing programs. Managing 100+ partners, licensed products, retail expansion, negotiations, and brand compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic direction, growth, and execution of Scouting America’s brand licensing programs
- Manage day-to-day administration and operational oversight, including licensee acquisition, contract renewals, negotiations, performance management, relationships, and events
- Oversee development, merchandising, and commercialization of licensed product assortments
- Partner with licensees to drive consumer engagement, product innovation, and category growth
- Develop and execute merchandising and licensing strategies for brand awareness, consumer acquisition, revenue growth, and new retail and distribution channels
- Identify whitespace opportunities and support licensed product placement across retail, sporting goods, e-commerce, and emerging channels
- Manage a portfolio of more than 100 licensee and business partner relationships
- Influence licensed product sales through licensing initiatives, merchandising direction, retail placement, and partner management
- Develop licensing proposals, category strategies, and business case presentations
- Conduct competitive market analysis, trend research, and category reviews
- Develop brand activation strategies for consumers, members, and new audiences
- Collaborate with merchandising, legal, marketing, compliance, and business stakeholders, including on third-party intellectual property licensing-in opportunities
- Ensure compliance with licensing agreements, brand standards, trademark guidelines, and product approval requirements
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in licensing, as a licensor, required
- Extensive knowledge of licensing business terms, contracting, licensee management, approval processes, product category development, social compliance standards, and royalty audit examination processes
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- Knowledge of Scouting America’s mission, values, and programs
- Knowledge of licensing agreements, royalties, intellectual property rights, industry best practices, retail and distribution channels, business development, contract law, negotiation principles, consumer product categories, and merchandising fundamentals
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
- Skill in structuring favorable business terms and negotiating contracts
- Organization, time management, and high attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
- Ability to manage multiple licensee accounts and projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
- Ability to review agreements, contracts, and marketing materials accurately
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, take initiative, and collaborate effectively
- Ability to build and maintain positive internal and external stakeholder relationships
- Ability to motivate and guide others
