Job Description
Spanish (Spain) Linguistic Expert evaluating LLM-generated text and curating linguistic data for Mercor's AI research projects. Editing, annotating, and improving Peninsular Spanish model performance.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the quality and accuracy of LLM-generated Spanish text across translation, summarization, dialogue, and grammar-correction use cases
- Edit, refine, or rewrite Spanish content to meet linguistic and cultural standards for Spain
- Annotate Spanish text for grammatical, syntactic, and semantic features
- Identify model errors and language gaps
- Collaborate with AI researchers to improve LLM performance
- Provide detailed linguistic feedback and analysis to guide model training
- Contribute to AI research projects in partnership with a leading research lab
Requirements:
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish (Spain)
- Excellent command of Spanish grammar, syntax, and stylistics
- Professional experience in translation, editing, linguistic annotation, or Spanish NLP data work
- Strong understanding of Peninsular Spanish nuances, regional variations, register, and context-appropriate usage
- Understanding of differences between Peninsular Spanish and Latin American Spanish
- Professional fluency in English
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify subtle errors or unnatural phrasing
- Clear communication skills
- Experience working in distributed, remote teams
- Interest in AI and LLM-driven language technologies preferred but not required
- Must be able to work as an independent contractor
- H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not supported
