Job Description
Freelance patent linguist translating and proofreading English patents into Latin American Spanish. Supporting Chemistry, Computer Science, and Electricity content for Welocalize's global language services.
Responsibilities:
- Translate patent-related content from English into Latin American Spanish while conveying the original meaning clearly
- Follow instructions regarding the translation process and CAT tool usage
- Communicate effectively and respond promptly in English
- Translate, proofread, copy edit, and perform MTPE for patent content in Chemistry, Computer Science, and Electricity
- Handle an expected weighted volume of 2,000–5,000 words per week
Requirements:
- Minimum two years' experience translating and reviewing content in the patent fields
- Native-level fluency in Spanish (Latin American target language)
- Degree in linguistics, translation, or equivalent experience
- Ability to translate, copy edit, and perform MTPE
- Experience translating patents from English into Spanish
- Experience proofreading patents, specifically in Electricity, Computer Science, and Chemistry
- Immediate availability for patent translation projects
- Ability to follow translation process and CAT tool usage instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively and respond promptly in English
- Experience with XTM CAT tool
