Job Description

Operations Manager leading Team Rubicon’s disaster-response teams, budgets, and volunteer mobilization. Building regional partnerships and coordinating emergency operations across seven Midwestern states.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of associates and support volunteer leaders in executing organizational goals and objectives
  • Manage assigned budgets, resource allocation, purchasing, expenses, and financial goal achievement
  • Supervise, mentor, evaluate, and develop assigned staff
  • Improve staff performance, productivity, and efficiency
  • Assist with operational planning, budgeting, procurement, and distribution of supplies and equipment
  • Support recruitment, deployment, scheduling, work rotations, and well-being throughout the disaster cycle
  • Develop QCPC team goals, provide feedback, and solicit regular input
  • Support Volunteer Management in resolving personnel conflicts
  • Participate in Participation Status Committees as needed
  • Lead the leadership lifecycle program, including recruiting, onboarding, and developing Greyshirt volunteer leaders
  • Support department needs during operational surges
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, and volunteers
  • Lead capacity-building efforts, local relationship growth, disaster operations, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Organize and participate in training and simulations for disaster response teams
  • Coordinate disaster response operations, including resource and personnel deployment
  • Coordinate with volunteer organizations and partners to maximize resources
  • Function as an Agency Executive
  • Provide EOC support and disaster response coordination across relevant agencies as needed
  • Report to TR’s Deputy Director, Operations (East Branch)

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in the military, disaster response, emergency management or first responder fields
  • Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration or related field preferred
  • Proven record of personnel management experience, including recruiting, managing, training, and developing employees and volunteers
  • Proficient with technology tools and remote working for communicating and coordinating with a large network of TR staff members, Greyshirts (volunteers), and external stakeholders
  • Successful past performance in leading volunteers is highly desired
  • Remote position based within Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, or Ohio
  • Evening and weekend availability
  • Reliable transportation
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally
  • At least 25% non-local travel within the assigned territory
  • Ability to support leadership meetings, video conferences, events, and operations
